“Taking Care of Your Feelings” Mental Health for Kids

A recent session of the “It Takes a Village Youth and Parents Talk Show” highlighted the power of intergenerational dialogue in addressing mental wellbeing, bringing together children and parents from the local Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church for a profoundly insightful evening.
The event, which took place on Wednesday, the 6th of August, centered on the theme “Taking Care of Your Feelings,” aiming to equip young people with the tools to understand and manage their emotional health. The young participants demonstrated a remarkable level of understanding and articulacy regarding the topic, showcasing the positive impact of creating safe spaces for such discussions.
Equally impactful was the contribution from the parents in attendance. They engaged in a candid discussion about the multifaceted challenges of parenting in today’s world and its direct connection to family mental health. By sharing their lived experiences and practical knowledge, the parents provided invaluable insights, fostering a sense of shared understanding and community support among attendees and listeners.

The event served as a powerful testament to the program’s guiding principle, proving that collaborative, community-focused efforts are essential for nurturing the mental wellbeing of the next generation.
The “It Takes a Village Youth and Parents Program” continues its important work, inviting the community to join the weekly talk show. The program runs every Thursday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
